Yoga Classes

Group classes take place in community spaces and are offered on a course basis. Where there is space available I am able to offer drop-in spaces for anyone who finds it difficult committing to a course. Classes combine ancient methods as well as creative application and contemporary thought towards posture, breath-work, meditation and relaxation.

 

My approach to yoga and self-care has been described as creative, compassionate and adaptable. No matter your background or experience of yoga you’re welcome to attend.

I ask that you enjoy and deeply honour yourselves during the time you have set aside to practice yoga! Group in-person classes are not suitable for anyone with a major illness or injury. Please visit my FAQ section for helpful guidance as well as venue information.

What you will need to bring

Please remember to bring your own mat! You may also find it useful to have other props available such as a cushion and blanket, bolster or block. If you don’t have a yoga mat please contact me in advance and I will provide a clean one for your use.

Yoga for all from the comfort of your own home! Join Helen for functional posture and breath work and cultivate greater overall strength, mobility, balance & focus for every day life activities.

Included within each session is time for reflection and self-awareness, relaxation and meditation.

 

These classes take place with the support of MS Therapy Centre North West. There is a suggested donation of £5.00 for this class.

You are invited to explore gently uplifting yoga postures and sequences which will help prepare body and mind for guided breath-work and meditation.

The session will end with a cup of tea and a chance for you to reflect upon your experience, soak up the space and form community.

One-to-One

Tailored sessions just for you

Individual yoga classes designed to support daily living through therapeutic posture and breath-work, deep stillness and visualisation. From pregnancy to post-natal and women’s health, accessible yoga, and establishing a daily practice.

 

Whatever your starting point is, I will meet you where you are and we will work together to form a practice that works for you. Learn more about one-to-one classes here.

 

Fees start from £50 and the class will take place from my home in Marple for pre-existing students.

The approach

The approach is gentle. A slow, mindful pace which I hope enables you to cultivate a quieter form of strength. We begin by settling and tuning into ourselves, relaxing the body and mind and noticing our starting point, so that as we move through the session we have a greater awareness of the positive changes that arise as a result of our practice. Allow these sessions to help with releasing deeply held bodily tensions and find greater ease in your overall wellbeing. Expect to guided through posture and breath work designed to generate greater levels of stability and strength, mobility and flexibility, co-ordination and balance as you pave the way for meditation, pranayama (yogic breathing) and deep relaxation.

Integral to the breath

The breath is the touchstone of yoga practice. Expect all classes to be supported by and integral to the breath and to take the form of a moving meditation when exploring postures. In stillness, it is the breath that will be drawn upon time and time again, so that you can begin to cultivate an inner awareness and sensitivity towards a more mindful practice.

Seasonal themes

In all of my classes you will be introduced to an approach that is inspired by seasonal change, poetry and art, as well as the rich teachings and philosophy that informs the practice of yoga.
We will look at ways to find greater comfort and stability in the way we move, breathe and think about ourselves. I encourage you to tune into your inner teacher and listen deeply to the way your body, breath and thoughts respond.

Devotional practice

Course based sessions mean you have a chance to really connect with and deepen your understanding of the practice of yoga. This way you can find useful ways to support your everyday lifestyle as well as develop self-awareness from shifts that have occurred as a result over a longer period of time. It is also a lovely way to meet new friends.
You are welcome to attend my classes regardless of your experience of yoga, but I recommend you look at the class descriptions first to see if any of them speak to you more than others.
